When you put money in our kettle, expect change. The money donated to The Salvation Army through our Online Red Kettle will change lives for the better.
Here are some statistics about the work the Metropolitan Division did in 2011:
- 144,007 received emergency assistance. This includes rent, mortgage, clothing, transportation, utlility bills, and prescription medication.
- 51,300 disaster victims were assisted by Salvation Army workers and volunteers. 285 responses were related to major flooding and individual home fires.
- 27,882 care days were provided to low-income families in nine Chicago Head Start sites
- Combining all shelter programs, each night over 1,200 people were accommodated under a Chicagoland Salvation Army roof.
- Hope and cheer was brought to 52,958 Chicago area shut-ins and patients in hospitals and nursing homes.
- 18,411 people were helped through individual, marital and group counseling.
- 1,552,226 nutritious meals were given to hungry people of all ages across the metropolitan Chicago area.
