Pittsburgh's been hit hard by the financial downturn and anticipate even more families in need this year. But you can make a difference. We all heard it - a study done by Charity Navigator found Pittsburgh to be the country's Most Philantrhopic City. SO LET'S PROVE IT! The Salvation Army in Pittsburgh needs your help in raising money and proving we can raise more for our community than Cleveland can. We need to raise critical funds for needy families this Holiday Season and we're county on everyone here in the 'burg to help! 
The Salvation Army provides much needed assistance to nearly 30 million Americans each year. So when you put money in Pittsburgh's kettle, expect change. The money donated for this competition will change lives for the better, right here in Pittsburgh.
Here's just a few of the things we're doing around the world & in your community: - Providing shelter to parents and their children.
- Responding to disasters by supplying food, shelter and medical care.
- Supplying food pantries and providing weekly meals to the needy.
- Taking children and seniors shopping for new winter outerwear.
- Providing health care to those who can't afford it.
- Hosting after-school programs for low-income children like music lessons and tutoring.
